KTM traces its origins to 1934 in Mattighofen, Austria, when engineer Hans Trunkenpolz established a metalworking shop that later evolved into motorcycle production. The company’s first motorcycle, the R100, appeared in 1953, marking KTM’s formal entry into motorcycling. From early on, KTM focused heavily on lightweight, competition-ready machines, building a strong foundation in off-road racing.
